The Fox and the Woodcutter
A Fox was being chased by hunters. He ran into a Woodcutter’s hut and begged, “Please, let me hide here!” The Woodcutter agreed and pointed to a corner where the Fox could hide.
The hunters soon arrived and asked if the Fox had passed by. The Woodcutter said, “No, I haven’t seen him,” but as he said it, he nodded his head toward the corner where the Fox was hiding.
The hunters didn’t notice and left. The Fox came out and began to walk away without a word of thanks.
The Woodcutter shouted, “Aren’t you going to thank me for saving you?”
The Fox replied, “I would have, if your words and your actions had matched.”
Moral: Actions speak louder than words.
