The Ass and the Load of Salt
A Merchant used an Ass to carry bags of salt to the market. One day, the Ass slipped while crossing a river, and the bags of salt got wet. The salt dissolved, and the load became much lighter.
The Ass was happy and thought, “That wasn’t so bad!”
The next day, he tried the same trick on purpose—but this time, the Merchant filled the bags with sponges.
The Ass fell into the river again, but the sponges soaked up water and became extremely heavy. He could barely move.
Moral: Trickery often backfires.
