The Trees and the Axe

A man came into the forest asking the Trees for a handle to make an axe. The kind Trees gave him a branch.

As soon as he had the handle, he made an axe and began cutting down the Trees one by one.

An old Tree said, “We have only ourselves to blame. We gave our enemy the tool to destroy us.”

Moral: Helping someone who may harm you later can lead to your own downfall.
