The Lark and Her Young Ones

A Lark built a nest in a wheat field. As the wheat grew, her chicks overheard the farmer say, “I’ll ask my neighbors to help harvest tomorrow.”

The mother said, “Don’t worry.”

The next day, they heard, “I’ll ask my relatives.”

Still, she said, “Don’t worry.”

Finally, the farmer said, “We’ll do it ourselves.”

The Lark said, “Now it’s time to leave—he means it now.”

Moral: People only get things done when they stop relying on others.
