The Trumpeter Taken Captive

During a war, a Trumpeter was captured by the enemy.

He begged, “Please don’t hurt me! I didn’t fight—I only played the trumpet!”

But his captors said, “You may not have fought, but your music encouraged others to do so.”

And they punished him.

Moral: Encouraging wrongdoing is as bad as doing it yourself.
