The One-Eyed Doe

A Doe had lost sight in one of her eyes. To protect herself, she always kept her good eye facing the land and her blind side toward the sea, thinking she’d be safe from hunters that way.

But one day, some sailors in a boat saw her from the sea and shot her.

As she lay dying, she said, “I was so careful about the danger I could see. I never imagined it would come from the side I thought was safe.”

Moral: Danger can come from where you least expect it.
