The Lark and the Farmer

A Lark made her nest in a wheat field. When the wheat ripened, the farmer said, “We’ll ask our neighbors to help harvest.”

The Lark told her chicks, “Don’t worry, we’re safe.”

Later, he said, “We’ll ask relatives.”

Still, she said, “Don’t worry.”

Then he said, “We’ll harvest it ourselves tomorrow.”

The Lark said, “Time to leave—they mean it now.”

Moral: People only act when they decide to rely on themselves.
